Space Race
You can now find the OST to Space Race here!
A boulder-pushing game that has been built to scale in every which way. You are a truck driver who must ship a last-minute fuel source to a local rocket that aims to take off very soon, leaving you very little time to slow down. Unfortunately, obstacles block your path because the security measures needed to block any "bad guys" must be absolute and impenetrable. That's why there are keys out in the open that you have to tow with your truck and boulders literally everywhere.
Controls are simple. Press SPACE to start the truck, drag and drop tokens onto objects to change their size. You also have a limited amount of "turns" that allow you to steer the truck in any direction at any time. The rest is for you to experiment with and figure out. Oh, and fullscreen is recommended.
Have mercy, it's a first time game jam for us. A lot of problems are obvious, and it isn't close to a perfect submission, but it was a great experiment and was very enjoyable through and through. As the underlying systems are quite unutilized, made obvious by the quite short length of the game with constantly varied features, it's clear that it can scale much further and might become a more significant project in the future. As it stands right now though, it's done and I have no current plans on adding more to it.
All assets were made for the game jam, thanks in no small part from my friend Theo who was able to create most of the tilesets you see and music you hear. Another contributor, who has an account on itch and is listed as a collaborator, JauqGames, was very useful when we needed advice for scoping out the project in the early stretch. It wouldn't have gone as far without it. And thanks to Ricki for making a bridge sprite. Your contributions won't go unnoticed.
That is all, hope you enjoy. -Morkeborke
NOTE: web version works just fine, but I forgot to package the windows executable with the .pck file that godot requires, thus the desktop version will be unavailable until after the game jam.
